Every good, borderline manorexic gay is no stranger to ground turkey. It is a great source of protein and is low in fat.
Now, Kyle’s partner serves his up crudely browned in a skillet and doused with ketchup. It basically looks like a bowl that was on stage during the prom scene of Carrie. This is proof not all stereotypes are true, and you definitely don’t want just ANY queer in your kitchen.
Kyle and I prefer to add a bit more flare to our otherwise flavorless ground turkey. We also took a note from one our favorite restaurants in Dallas, Village Burger Bar, and top these juicy patties with a little more than pickles and mustard.
makes 6-8 patties
- 2 pounds ground turkey
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon dried dill
- 2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/3 cup quick cooking oats
- 1/4 cup feta cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 teaspoon olive oil
- 3 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- Swiss cheese, optional
- dried cranberries, optional
Preheat grill to medium-high heat.
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients, except Swiss and cranberries. We find using a pastry cutter helps evenly mix all the ingredients and also keeps some of the globby mess from ruining your manicure.
Using your hands, form about 1/3 cup of mixture into a ball and flatten into a patty.
Grill burgers 8 minutes per side. (A good way to tell when they are ready to flip is when they no longer stick to the grill.)
Cut into a test burger to check for doneness or use a meat thermometer to check for 165 degrees.
I like cranberries!
Do you cook the oats before adding them? Or add them raw?
Keep it simple, Lindsay! They go in raw!
